It’s Now or Never:

Bottom Line Advice

On Procrastination…

If we all lived in NOW time, procrastination would not be a word. There would be no meaning for it. We would do everything when we thought about it instead of saying, “I’ll get to it later.”

We all know when “later” is. Too many times it’s NEVER!

So how do you apply this “now time” principle to your tax business? Well, if you are reading this manual right now in the “off season,” I’d be jotting down ideas and things you can do today as well as stuff you want to do before the tax season starts.

Too often tax business owners (and I include myself in this category) put off until the last minute what they know they are supposed to do before tax season. Now the holidays are here and what do you know, tax season is here again and you didn’t get your list done like you were supposed to.

The secret to getting things done is doing them in NOW time. That means whatever you have on your list to do today, do them now, not later today. If reading these steps is on your “to do” list for today, keep reading it all day. Don’t give into procrastination and put it off until tomorrow!

“Now time” applies to MAKING DECISIONS, too. How many times have you put off tough decisions just because you didn’t want to make it? Being decisive means reacting quickly with reason or a purpose. (Not reacting without reason, that’s impulsive and foolish.)

Lee Iacocca once said, “The number one characteristic of super-successful people is their willingness and ability to act decisively.”

How come most business owners don’t act quickly or decisively? Maybe part of the reason people don’t move more quickly is because of fear. Fear of the unknown consequences. Fear of failure. Maybe they just don’t like confrontation. (The bottom line is a lack of “thick skin” plays too big of a role in business owners’ lives.)

The Take Away

During tax season you have to live in NOW TIME. YOU MUST CONFRONT PROBLEMS HEAD ON AND SOLVE THEM OR THEY COST YOU MONEY!

(Problems don’t usually fix themselves. They usually get worse by not dealing with them.)

Currently, if you’re thinking of a problem, I’d go do take care of it now, while you are in NOW time. (It’s a good habit to get into.)
