“YOU CAN’T EAT EFFORT!”

I don’t know where I heard that, but I like it AND IT’S VERY TRUE!

People in the business world get caught up in “being busy” too much. They confuse EFFORT with RESULTS! They think just because they are busy or they’ve got a lot “going on,” that means they are successful.

This is especially true in the tax industry. Just because you are “busy” during tax season or you have a lot to do doesn’t mean you’re making more money or that you are improving your tax business.

What kind of effort is better?

“Concentrated Effort” that gets results is far better than just running around like a chicken with your head cut off!

Personally, if I get in the office and write a couple of solid ads for a promotion that’s coming up, and it takes me two or three hours of uninterrupted time to do it, that’s a much better use of my time than to stick my head into some “everyday” problems that our staff can handle just as well as I could.

I prioritize. Decide what’s the best time for me. Concentrate and focus when I work and seek to reach my goal of successful, measurable results at the end.

Now what’s more productive and better for you and your business in the long run?

Working a few hours in the morning, focusing my time and using concentrated effort (and then taking the rest of the day off) or just being in the office handling whatever problems arise and putting in a long day at the office? (The choice is obvious.)

Another good question is, how do you “practically” GET STARTED and begin developing habits of efficient and concentrated effort?

“Now Time”

One way I’ve learned (going back to using “now time”) is once I hear or think of a good idea to implement, I immediately write down an action plan for that day and the next few days to implement it (right then and there!).

You see, another secret to getting things done or implementing all the good ideas you get in any given week, is to ACT as fast as possible on the ideas that you feel warrant the HIGHEST priority!

THE SPEED AT WHICH YOU ACT ON A GOOD IDEA IS EVERYTHING! After that, all you are doing is ATTACHING TIME to the priorities you feel are important!

If you want to succeed, find and follow “mentors” who have gone down THE road you want to travel! 

It’s a very rare to see any successful individual get to wherever he or she has gone and NOT have some kind of mentor or “coaching” relationship with someone who “has been there before.”

Anyone wanting to succeed in specific areas of their life needs to seek out and find mentors in those areas. I have one or two “marketing” mentors I continue to study and learn from. It is an area of my life that I want to get better at and succeed even more.

Mentors can’t DO IT for you, but what we can do is help you cut down on a lot of normal mistakes and pitfalls that come with the territory. Since we’ve been down the road you want to go, we can save a lot of time, money and effort!

Besides getting coaching from me, you should also find a local mentor in your community that you can meet with on a regular basis. It can act as your ongoing “accountability, kick my butt into gear” sessions..

Hey, if it helps to get you to take more action, then by all means, meet with some local business people and let them “kick your butt into gear!”

Just a little bit more” can make a huge impact in your tax business!

THESE LITTLE THINGS MEAN MUCH MORE PROFIT!

It does not take much to be a little bit better than others in the tax industry. Just act on a few of the Lessons in this Tax Marketing Crash Course and you’ll become a little bit better — I promise!

Little stuff like: writing a headline, having a deadline, including a call-to-action or coupon in your ad, using testimonials in your promotions … even systematizing your office paperwork just a little bit differently, which helps you become more efficient so you can produce more tax returns and handle a high number of clients in a day.

These are all simple examples that, applied to your business just 10% better, could make as much as a 50% net profit on your bottom line.

(And that’s nothing to sneeze at!)
